A CARES program includes parent training and consultation. The parent will be trained on behavior plans and can be trained to participate in the therapy services if desired. For example, if a parent wishes to learn discrete trial training, the CARES team will work with the parent to make this happen. Consultation can also include:
parent training workshops (view calendar here)
improving the child's behavior and relationship with siblings
structuring the home environment
establishing a communication system
generalizing skills learned in therapy
working with peers
developing IEP goals and objectives
support for parents dealing with a variety of feelings and questions about the future
